For some years past .information has been accumulating ill the Geological Survey branch of the Department of Mines concerning occurrences of underground water in the pastoral areas. Some of the material consists of logs and records of bores and wells supplied by the courtesy of pastoralists and drillers, analyses supplied by the owners, and samples collected by the Geological Survey of South Australia. The information is by no means complete for any district, and cannot he so until definite areas of considerable size ran be studied in the fullest possible detail. No discussion of the Great Artesian Basin water is included, as this source of supply is fully dealt with ,in the various publications of the Interstate Artesian Water Conferences and elsewhere.
