The licence was relinquished following conduct of intensive exploration in the Malbooma area since 1973. Drilling of 514 percussion holes (totalling 21 355 metres) and 29 cored holes (totalling 1 111 metres) defined widespread uranium mineralisation, assaying up to 2 000 ppm U3O8, within Eocene lignitic sediments at a depth of about 30 metres. The mineralisation which is confined to a palaeodrainage channel was considered to be uneconomic. Reserves of 4 000 tones U3O8, have been indicated, of grade 0.034 per cent U3O8, and 1.5 metres thick.
