TARGET: Copper and uranium in Adelaidean sediments and Mesoproterozoic igneous rocks. EXPLORATION: A trial low-level helicopter-borne radiometric survey (using a nominal 1/10th mile flight line spacing and 50 foot mean sensor elevation) with ground scintillometric follow-up, prospect grid-based trial soil and rock chip sampling plus trial ground magnetic, IP and resistivity surveys, reconnaissance stream sediment sampling (57 samples), completion of 32 percussion drillholes for a total penetration of 10,360 feet, commencement of 4 diamond drillholes (partially completed) for a total of 3816 feet, and interpretation of geochemical analysis results. RESULTS: Disseminated sulphides (chalcopyrite, pyrite, molybdenite) averaging 1% Cu were recorded in the percussion drillholes put in roughly 400 feet apart at Parabarana copper prospect, with a best intersection of 70 feet grading at 1.57% Cu made in hole NFP14. The host rocks are granite porphyry and chloritic hornfels. Deeper drilling here was recommended. Ground scintillometric follow-up and sampling of the presumed sources of eleven airborne survey radiometric anomalies returned a highest value of 670 ppm U. The minor secondary uranium mineral occurrences found in outcrop appear to be related primarily to local structural features.
