Source Data History: Hardcopy reports "Geological Monuments in South Australia" (parts 1-9), Geological Society of Australia, SA Division: source of geological heritage sites and primary source of locational information. Polygons created by reference initially to maps in "Geological Monuments in South Australia". Polygons refined where possible by reference to text descriptions in "Geological Monuments in South Australia". Polygons further refined or created (if no specific locational information present in "Geological Monuments in South Australia") by reference to most appropriate digital geological map polygons, digital topgraphic features, cadastral parcel boundaries, and maps in published and unpublished PIRSA reports. This process was subjective and was a joint project between PIRSA and the Geological Society of Australia. Processing Steps: Geological linework scanned, manually digitised or captured from pre-existing digital map data. Linework cleaned and coded. Polygon topology built. Polygons linked to geological attributes on Oracle textual database. |
