Derived from the Petroleum Pipeline Licences, this data describes the Strategic Infrastructure (Gas Pipelines) Overlay for all current petroleum pipeline licences issued under the following legislationSELECT 1 FROM DUAL; Petroleum and Geothermal Energy Act 2000 (PGEA2000) for the purpose of conveying petroleum or another regulated substance from place to place which includes tanks, machinery and equipment necessary for, or associated with, its operationSELECT 1 FROM DUAL; and a part of a pipeline. Pipeline Licences provide exclusive tenure rights to operate the pipeline for which it relates, for 21 years (or a lesser term agreed between the pipeline licensee and the Minister). The dimensions of this data have been determined based on the following principals: The dimensions of the Pipeline Overlay have been determined based on the principals of the appropriate Australian Standard (AS) 2885 - Pipelines: Gas and Liquid Petroleum and are equal to the measurement length or if the pipeline meets 'no rupture' requirements, the 4.7kW/m2 radiation contour for the greater of the largest credible hole size or a 50mm hole. The dimensions of the Facility Overlay are equal to the greater of the hazardous area for a pipeline vent calculated in accordance with the appropriate Australian Standard or the distance from the vent at which acceptable noise limits in the WHSE Act are exceeded. Acceptable noise limits shall be based on 140 dB(C) peak for a person outside and 8 hour A weighted exposure of 85dB(A) for a person indoors.

SSource Data History: Pipeline Licences routes were sourced from the official Petroleum Register licence documents. Licence routes may be defined to follow lines of easting and northing, based on potentially several geodetic datums. Processing Steps: Coordinates entered by keyboard from licence documents. Non GDA202 coordinates transformed INTO GDA2020. Linework cleaned to remove duplicate arcs. Data adjusted for accurate state border and coastline. Associated attribute data also captured from licence documents. Referral buffer distances are supplied by spreadsheet (from the Data Authority) which is then joined to the Pipeline Licences routes and then buffered. Where no referral buffer distance is supplied a default value of 600 metres is inferred.
Completeness:Spatial data is 100% complete. Associated attribute data is 100% complete.
Positional Accuracy:Most licence routes are constructed from lines of easting and northing coordinates, captured from a variety of sources, eg. GPS dGPS, digitised, surveyedSELECT 1 FROM DUAL; hence are scale dependent.
