The [geological text of the] Explorer's Guide forms part of a DVD product, a provision format made necessary due to the large amounts of associated text, figures and data involved. It provides updated reviews of the exciting geology of South Australia, and places mines, mineral deposits and prospects in their correct geological context. The guide's extensive content draws on over 125 years of geoscientific information generated by the government and industry. The [geological text of the] Guide commences with an introduction by the Executive Director, followed by a brief overview of the key exploration analogues that are applicable to South Australia, and emphasises the many discovery opportunities which exist in areas that have received little exploration attention to date. There follows a concise summary of the geology of South Australia, which precedes comprehensive reviews of the State's geological provinces: Gawler Craton, Curnamona and Musgrave Provinces, Adelaide Geosyncline, Kanmantoo Trough, and several large sedimentary basins. Selected commodity information (now including dimension stone) is provided, as is guidance to users about the means to obtain more data, and the particulars of South Australian mineral exploration licensing, land access and regulations.
