Location of all current Associated Facility Licence Applications and Infrastructure Licence Applications issued under the Petroleum and Geothermal Energy Act 2000 (the P&GE Act supersedes the Petroleum Act 2000), Petroleum (Submerged Lands) Act, 1982, or Petroleum (Submerged Lands) Act, 1967. An associated facilities licence authorises the holder of a licence (the primary licence) to establish and operate associated facilities on land outside the area of the primary licence; and for that purpose, confers rights of access to and use of land to which the licence relates on terms and conditions specified in the licence. An associated facilities licence cannot be granted for an area exceeding 5km2, however, this restriction on the area of an associated facilities licence does not apply if the licence area is in the form of a corridor with a width of 50m or less. An associated facilities licence is an adjunct to the primary licence and is, subject to its terms, granted for the same term, and renewable at the same time and in the same way as the primary licence. An Infrastructure Licence is used for engaging in any of the following activities: remote control of facilities used for the recovery of petroleum in a licence area; processing petroleum recovered in any place; storing petroleum before it is transported to another place; preparing petroleum for transport to another place; activities related to any of the above. Subject to this parts of the appropriate acts, an Infrastructure Licence remains in force indefinitely.

Source Data History: Associated Facility Licence and Infrastructure Licence Application boundaries were sourced from the official Petroleum Register licence application documents. Licence application boundaries are legally defined to follow lines of latitude and longitude, based on potentially several geodetic datums. Processing Steps: Coordinates entered by keyboard from licence application documents. Non GDA94 coordinates transformed into GDA94. Linework cleaned to remove duplicate arcs. Data adjusted for accurate state border and coastline. Where appropriate cadastral parcels removed from licence application polygons. Associated attribute data also captured from licence documents.
Positional accuracy:Most boundary locations are constructed from lines of latitude and longitude, hence are scale independent. The accuracy of other boundaries is dependent upon the source, eg. state border, coastline, cadastre.
Attribute accuracy:Validation checks are performed periodically, resulting in an estimated 90% accuracy.
Logical consistency:The dataset contains no overshoots, undershoots or duplicate lines. All polygons representing licences contain only one label.
Completeness:Spatial data is 100% complete. Associated attribute data is 100% complete.
