An interpretation of Tertiary coastal sand dunes and ridges for South Australia. Those sand dune or ridge systems were formed by coastal currents and wind and interpreted from NOAA and ASTER Night-time Thermal images; palaeovalleys, Landsat, mapped Basin and Province datasets; drillhole data and geological mapping. The major use is in mineral exploration of palaeochannel deposits but contributes also to basic geological understanding of South Australian palaeodrainage systems, in conjunction with companion data of State geological map.

      Source data:
Tertiary coastal strandlines derived from coastal sand dunes/ridges or palaeohighs of South Australia, developed concurrently.
Linework modified and extended on desktop GIS into interpreted areas using geological data and interpretations from Landsat MSS, NOAA, ASTER, SA Basins and Provinces, drillhole data and geological mapping.
      Positional accuracy:
Accuracy variable, dependent in part on scale and quality of source data.
As dataset is partly interpretive, positional accuracy and boundaries are subject to alternative interpretation.
Geological attributes are based on interpretation of features in the subsurface which are not directly observable; thus they are subject to alternative interpretations.
