The Coompana regolith map aims to provide a broad-scale framework for guiding surface geochemical prospecting for a wide range of minerals and materials, as a basis for guiding mineral exploration, and to provide a useful dataset for addressing other land use issues like groundwater.

The Coompana Regolith map captures the dominant surface regolith materials accompanied by associated landforms. Defines fifteen regolith landform units across the Coompana area; dominant regolith landform unit across Coompana is erosional residual plain, other regolith units include distinctive surface drainage features like channels and claypans. Provides detailed mapping of surface linear features associated with neotectonism in the Coompana area due to the recent acquisition of higher resolution DEM data as part of the Coompana Aeromagnetic, Radiometric and DEM survey (Survey Coompana 2015SA001) in combination with the 30m SRTM digital elevation data.  Polygon linework was digitised between 1:25k and 1:100k scales.
