Surface locations of cover-related rock samples in South Australia. The geological information is extracted from an Oracle database known as SA_GEODATA. A query filter has been applied to extract surface sample sources that are either rock outcrop/float, rock outcrop sample, or rock subcrop (in situ), which also have a rock group category of either anthropogenic/man made, duricrust, regolith, or residual material. This dataset filter has excluded sample sources associated with drillholes, pulps, mine-related categories, calcrete, soil, vegetation, lag, and those specifically logged as rock float (not in situ). Additional data attributes on the availability in the South Australian Core Library and/or thin section collection, geochemistry, geological logs and administrative information has also been established on the samples throughout the state.
