This report covers the whole field of oil search in South Australia both from the scientific as well as, commercial aspects, and also provides a complete and accurate record of the many unsuccessful attempts made to find oil'in the past. Emphasis is laid on the futility of any testing being undertaken without detailed scientific work being carried out first. It also stresses that the further search for oil is a matter for an organization with appreciable funds and expert technical staff. . Although prospects of finding oil in the future are not encouraging from past results, it is believed that the adoption of the plan for oil search outlined in this report will lead to a better understanding of the prospects and confine expenditure on further boring to the more tangible ones.
