The demand for talc and other non-metallic minerals in South Australia increased markedly during the Second World-War when overseas sources of supply were severed. Australian manufacturers succeeded in using material from local deposits. In recent years the quality of the mine output has increased to a parity with that of the imported raw materials such that local supplies have continued to supply the Australian market.
