An application for financial assistance to resume mining at the Avondale mine, by sinking a vertical shaft to a depth of 220 feet on the East lode, was made on 28/6/1948 by Mr. A.R. Dodson on behalf of Dodson & Co. After making a geological inspection of the surface mine workings, the author recommends that this assistance not be given without preparatory work first being done to dewater the mine and determine the true economic nature of the lode mineralogy existing below the water table.
