This statement of environmental objectives was prepared in accordance with Section 99 of the Petroleum Act 2000. The objectives contained in this document are based on information identified in the environmental impact report for the area (Roberts, 2001). Typical seismic proposals in the Otway Basin which use current field techniques as identified in the environmental impact report (Roberts, 2001) have been assessed at a low level of environmental significance, and will therefore be covered by the scope of this statement of environmental objectives. This document has been developed through a public consultation process, which included the operators of petroleum tenements in the Otway Basin.
