The stratigraphic succession from the surface to 600 feet depth in Pinnaroo bore is: - Pleistocene to Recent terrestrial sands and clayey sands, thickness 34 feet; - Loxton Sands (Cheltenhamian - Upper Miocene), thickness 107 feet; - ?continental equivalent of Bookpurnong Beds, thickness ?20 feet; - Gordon Limestone (? Bairnsdalian - Lower Miocene), thickness 40 feet; - Morgan Limestone (Batesfordian - Lower Miocene), thickness 215 feet; - equivalents of Mannum Formation, grading downwards to equivalent of Gambier Limestone, 140 feet.
