Australian Oil and Gas Company Wentworth No.1 was drilled 25 miles north of Wentworth, N.S.W, to a depth of 2081 feet. The well penetrated a sequence of mainly marine Tertiary rocks to a depth of 1273 feet; it then intersected 331 feet of marine Lower Cretaceous sediments believed to be Permian glacigenes before entering Palaeozoic conglomerate at 2055 feet. Drilling ceased in this conglomerate at 2081 feet.
