North Renmark 1 was drilled 6 miles north of Renmark, to a total depth of 4018 feet. The well penetrated a sequence of Tertiary, Cretaceous and Permian rocks, mostly of marine origin, and has given the most complete section so far known from the Murray Basin in South Australia. Tertiary sediments were intersected to a depth of 1800 feet, Cretaceous sediments to 3245 feet, and Permian sediments of probable glacial marine origin from below this depth to TD. A notable feature of this well is the fossiliferous character of the Aptian section, and the presence of foraminifera in the Permian section.
