Microfloras in 8 drill core samples and 1 drill cuttings sample taken from Monash 1 have indicated and confirmed the presence of Palaeocene, Cretaceous and Permian sediments. Correlations in the Palaeocene are made with the type sequence in south-western Victoria, and indicate a middle Palaeocene age. The Cretaceous sediments represented by the core samples are regarded as being of Aptian age, and the glacigenes as being lowermost Permian.
