Of the well's total depth of 1495 metres, the top 433 metres are fossiliferous, for which this report outlines the stratigraphy as determined from selected drill cores and cuttings. The biostratigraphy of the sequence studied in Mallabie 1 proves the downward extension of the Permian strata known within the Eucla Basin. The well sequence includes Quaternary units, Miocene Nullarbor Limestone, Middle Eocene Wilson Bluff Limestone, Lower Cretaceous (Aptian) beds, and Early Permian beds.
