3 diamond boreholes (total 737 feet) and 8 air holes (total 1122 feet) were drilled in the Lower Cambrian Parara Limestone, half a mile south-west of Curramulka, to investigate the availability of commercial quality resources of limestone. Recovered rock sample analyses showed that the area containing the required grade of 85% calcium carbonate is restricted, and it is doubtful whether the target of 40 million short tons is available in a bed configuration suitable for open-cut mining. Consequently, investigations were transferred to Section 52S, 1.5 miles to the east, with satisfactory results, as described in another report [RB 765].
