Two company exploration diamond drillholes in EL 543, completed as stratigraphic wells in the Mount Gunson area, were utilised by SADME for conducting well velocity surveys. The aim of this work was to establish a correlation with the data from previous seismic reflection surveys in the region, and also with the lithological and geophysical logs of local bores. Seismic velocities recorded for the Adelaidean Stuart Shelf sediments were found to be significantly lower than those of the underlying rocks. Rocks of the Pandurra Formation, recognized as the oldest member of the Stuart Shelf sedimentary sequence, had seismic velocities in the range 4300-4900 m/s. Underlying volcanic rocks had velocities around 5050 m/s for acidic units, and up to 6600 m/s for basic pyritic units.
