The Cooper Basin region has had a long structural history, reflected in differing structural styles ranging from thrust faults, to extensional horst and graben developments, to wrenching. The timing of this structuring in relation to the main period of oil generation in the Eromanga Basin is critical in assessing the prospectivity of different areas of the basin. The purpose of this investigation was to map and model the amount of structuring that has taken place, since oil generation in the Mesozoic sequence is thought to have begun in the Late Cretaceous / Early Tertiary.
