Before granting a new exploration licence or renewing an existing licence, the Department for Energy and Mining must be satisfied that an applicant has sufficient and appropriate expertise, experience and resources to implement the proposed exploration for the specific licence location. Under the Mining Regulations 2020, an applicant must supply a statement of these capabilities and additional evidence and information as determined or required by the Minister.
