In 2021-22, the Geological Survey of South Australia undertook a regional drilling program in southeast of South Australia targeting the Delamerian Orogen and overlying Murray Basin. The project was funded through the MinEx CRC National Drilling Initiative and aimed for scientific understanding and discovery beneath post-mineralisation cover sequences.

Drilling was concentrated in two areas, Alawoona in the south and Quondong Vale in the north. Twenty diamond drill holes penetrating basement were completed.

This report provides a comprehensive description of the lithologies and rock relations between the units intersected in drilling. Analytical work provides geochronological geochemical and isotopic characterisation of rock units, enabling a robust stratigraphic framework to be constructed.
