Disseminated particles of iron oxides present within samples of clay submitted for beneficiation studies were unable to be effectively separated using magnetic means. As the iron oxide particles appear to range in size down to micron scale, mechanical separation would also be impossible without ultrafine grinding, whereupon it is suggested that the effects of these particles on the intended products would in any case be non-deleterious.
