On 22nd February 1952 the writer accompanied Messrs. Gild and England, Engineering and Water Supply Department, on an inspection of a proposed site for the erection of storage tanks in lieu of the original Summit tank proposal for the Mannum - Adelaide Pipeline. A number of shallowest holes had been sunk to explore the subsurface conditions. An opinion was sought as to the suitability or otherwise of the rock material exposed in the excavations, as foundations for the table.
