Monitoring equipment is now in place in the 29 wells which supply all groundwater to 8 major communities in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Lands. The equipment provides readings of standing water level and pumping rate on an hourly basis for each well; information which should give a good indication of the sustainability of the water supply. Additionally, one rain gauge has been installed at each community location to give corresponding hour-by-hour information on precipitation, and so provide guidance on groundwater recharge.
