Sixteen groundwater observation wells were drilled in the Virginia area between 17th December 1999 and 20th January 2000. Nine of these were completed in the first Quaternary aquifer (Q1), with eight ranging between 8.0 and 12.5 m deep, and one 17 m deep. The remaining seven wells were completed in the perched watertable (six 3.0 m deep wells and one 6.0 m deep well). Potentiometric water levels in the Q1 wells vary between 1.82 m to 6.92 m below ground level. Five of the 7 wells completed in the perched watertable were dry, while the remaining two had water levels of 4.7 m and 2.04 m respectively.
