Two basin systems in north-eastern Eyre Peninsula comprising Palaeoproterozoic metasedimentary and volcanic successions are described in terms of rock age and provenance. The older system comprises the Myola Volcanics and the Broadview Schist, which have extrusion and maximum depositional ages respectively of c.1790 Ma. The provenance of the Broadview Schist is most probably local, as it has yielded U-Pb zircon and Nd isotopic data consistent with sources from the south-eastern Gawler Craton. However, the mapped most northerly outcrop of Broadview Schist has a more juvenile provenance than many >=1790 Ma protoliths in the Gawler Craton. Though this sample remains unconstrained by geochronology, Nd isotopic data and field relationships indicate it is unlikely to be part of the Broadview Schist. The Broadview Schist has many isotopic similarities to rocks forming the Cleve Subgroup, located further west on Eyre Peninsula; at present, though, limited definition of the tectonic divide separating these successions, and constraints on identifying the ages of deformations in north-eastern Eyre Peninsula, prevent an accurate determination of their relationship. The younger of the basin systems comprises the McGregor Volcanics and the Moonabie Formation, which have emplacement and depositional ages respectively of c. 1750 Ma. While U-Pb zircon ages and outcrop proximity suggest that the McGregor Volcanics were the likely protoliths to the Moonabie Formation, Nd isotopic data suggest a provenance that included protoliths both more evolved and more juvenile than the recognised occurrences of McGregor Volcanics. These protoliths are thought to have possibly been derived from the Wallaroo Group, or from McGregor Volcanics units not yet described. The c. 1750 Ma basin system on north-eastern Eyre Peninsula is likely to be the western extent of the basin system in which the Wallaroo Group was deposited, and as such therefore extends the western margin of the entire Wallaroo Group - Curnamona depositional system to close to the eastern margin of the Middleback Range. It is likely that the c. 1790 Ma and c. 1750 Ma sequences are not part of the same stratigraphic succession. However, they may be part of the same overall, evolving, easterly younging Palaeoproterozoic basin system.
