A personal memoir account by Dr. Wopfner concerning the circumstances and process of his scientific discovery during 1957 of the expansive Mesozoic-Cenozoic sedimentary anticlines which outcrop in low relief in the far north-eastern corner of South Australia. These formerly only inferred features were starting to be perceived around that time by local petroleum explorer Santos Ltd and its technical consultant Geosurveys Pty Ltd as perhaps having major petroleum prospectivity, akin to similar fold structures present in the Tertiary-Mesozoic artesian basins of Saudi Arabia and Lybia that contain giant oilfields.
