Exploration of an area located 55-70 km east-southeast of Leigh Creek, where it was hoped that undiscovered Mississippi Valley - type lead-zinc mineralisation might exist within slightly folded Lower Cambrian strata, has consisted of 1:25,000 scale geological mapping, surface prospecting, ground assessment of base metal geochemical anomalies returned by earlier stream sediment sampling, alluvial gravel bulk sampling for diamond indicators, and stream sediment / rock chip sampling within the Nepabunna Syncline. No visible surface mineralisation and no significant drainage geochemical anomalies were detected, and no kimberlitic indicator minerals or diamonds were recovered. A location 6 km south-west of Italowie Gap, where North Flinders Mines and Electrolytic Zinc Corp. had previously found stream sediment base metal anomalism that was marginally above background, was re-sampled with similar results. It appears that moderately elevated zinc and lead levels are here associated with ferruginous and manganese-stained claystones and siltstones of the Wilkawillina Limestone.
