TARGET: Uranium in Tertiary sediments, as extensions of mineralisation occurrences (precipitated within redox 'cells') previously reported by Afmeco, Urangesellschaft and others. EXPLORATION: Ten widely-spaced rotary mud drill holes, for a total penetrationof 1768 m, were put down in two localities about 3 miles apart in the south of the licence area, where moderate grades of mineralisation and radioactivity had earlier been encountered. RESULTS: No economically significant drill intersections were made, and no evidence was seen of local continuity or consistency in the radioactive horizons recorded on downhole gamma ray logs. A few small anomalous radioactivity peaks were detected around the 150-170 m depth level, but none of these strata intervals yielded calculated ore grades above 0.055% eU3O8.
