Following the acquisition and interpretation of a 1775 line km airborne magnetic/radiometric survey in the Warooka area located at the southern end of Yorke Peninsula, rotary/percussion drilling of 15 shallow bedrock exploratory holes (aggregate penetration 535 m) was undertaken to investigate selected aeromagnetic anomalies for their base metal mineralisation potential. Geochemical sampling of the crystalline basement rocks gave no encouragement for finding economic occurrences of base metals. Strongly magnetic metasedimentary horizons were sampled in several drillholes, and magnetite was found to cause the observed anomalism.
