In an area located east-southeast of Streaky Bay township, the target mineral commodities were uranium, base metals, gold, tin, tungsten, tantalum and lignite; kaolinite was recognised as a secondary target later during the exploration programme. 25 rotary holes were drilled for a total of 1228 m. All but one of the holes intersected Proterozoic Hiltaba Suite basement. Probable Eocene sediments were intersected in several holes, in a closed basement depression. Assay results were negative for possible Cainozoic placers of, or intra-basement type, gold, tin, tungsten, tantalum and base metals. Weak redox interface uranium concentrations were recorded in three drillholes intersecting Tertiary palaeochannel sediments. The saprolitic kaolin analysed was not of a sufficiently high grade for use as a paper filler or coating, but further testing would be needed to determine its suitability for ceramics manufacture, or for lower grade applications. Lignite intersections were minor. Relinquishment of the tenement was recommended.
