As part of an evaluation of sedimentary uranium occurrences in the Tertiary age Warrior Palaeochannel, 27 open rotary holes totalling 875.5 m, including a 9 m core cut in 1 hole, were drilled and radiometrically logged. The HQ drill core and 40 sludge samples were assayed. Some minor radiometric anomalies (maximum reading 1500 counts per minute = 0.03% U3O8) were detected in 5 holes. Uranium-bearing carbonaceous sediments are present over an area of approximately 5 square km at the north-western edge of the licence, and extend into the adjoining ELs 195/360 area. The radiometric anomalism is associated with a 0.5 to 2.5 m thick horizon of carbonaceous material occurring at or near the contact between a lowermost sandstone-arkose unit, and an uppermost mudstone-fine sandstone unit, about 20-30 m below the land surface. Further exploration of this mineralisation by closer-spaced drilling is warranted.
