Drilling of two percussion holes (aggregate 400 metres) near Yerila, south of Lake Blanche, failed to give encouragement to the search for possible Permian coal and Tertiary uranium in the southern Eromanga Basin / Lake Blanche Lineament uplift area bordering the northern edge of the Flinders Ranges. A diamond drillhole 750 metres deep, sited on an aeromagnetic anomaly located east of Blanchewater Hill, disclosed no anomalous Mesozoic sedimentary or Precambrian basement mineralisation. Four other originally planned drillholes were cancelled on logistical and technical grounds.
