Drilling of a 196 m deep vertical diamond hole to further investigate the oil shale potential of Permian strata in the axis of the Boorthanna Trough, north of Billa Kalina Homestead, intersected only Lower Permian glacial sediments below 30 m thick Cretaceous sands. The target Stuart Range Formation was absent from the sequence intersected, and no coal was disclosed, nor oil shales, within the underlying Boorthanna Formation.
