In a search for possible concealed Olympic Dam type base metal deposits within an area located 80 km north-west of Yalata, the licensee investigated several previously identified contiguous magnetic and gravity anomalies by performing ground magnetic and gravity profiling to estimate the probable depth to basement. Three diamond drillholes were put down within 30 m of each other over the most distinct geophysical anomaly: the deepest hole reached a maximum depth of 597 m before being abandoned, after it had penetrated into ? Lower Proterozoic metamorphic basement (chloritic schist) at 592 m depth. Nowhere was any significant mineralisation observed, and the target gravity and magnetic anomalies remain unexplained. Disseminated pyrite was intersected over the interval 484-550 m within inferred Upper Proterozoic clastics, and a poor quality lignitic carbonaceous Tertiary sequence was intersected between 56.7-76.5 m.
