During the current licence term Aquitaine conducted ongoing evaluation of its recent placer scheelite mineral discovery near Keyneton, south-east of the Barossa Ranges. Additional field reconnaissance, rock chip sampling and petrological study, much hampered by continuing limitations of access onto private land to do any exploration, has demonstrated that the host Lower Cambrian Milendella Limestone Member horizon sourcing the detrital scheelite is itself persistently, but very weakly, mineralised with scheelite. The existing results do not allow definition of a valid drilling target zone, however, such could arise if a favourable tectonic or stratigraphic situation is able to be recognised. Because of the impasse with progressing on-ground work, a desktop regional study of the central Kanmantoo Trough base metal prospectivity was commenced instead, attempting a multivariate analysis of all the available metallogenic data for the greater Keyneton area. The preliminary results of this synthesis are given as an appendix to the SML 716 final report.
