TARGET: Sedimentary uranium associated with high order radiometric anomalies over lakes on the edge of the sand dune country, east of the Nullarbor Plain. EXPLORATION: Closely spaced (300-500 m), low level (65 m altitude) aerial scintillometer traversing of lakes and the surrounding area, followed by ground scintillometer traversing plus hand auger and helicopter transported Jacro drilling. RESULTS: Uranium has apparently been concentrated from originally dispersed background sources in now leached basement into the overlying cover rocks. The highest value found was 643 ppm U in lignites of the Eocene lake sediments. There is separation of uranium and its daughter products. Thus the radiation measured is not necessarily spatially related to the uranium distribution.
