Ongoing exploration for sedimentary uranium deposits and other radioactive minerals, in the plains area north-west of Lake Frome, consisted of the drilling and geophysical logging of 56 rotary holes for a total of 29,708 feet. Drillhole 355-1, which encountered three zones of potentially economic uranium mineralisation, was subsequently redrilled as a fully core hole, and selected core samples were assayed for U3O8. Significant radioactivity to 10 times background was recorded in 13 drillholes on the tenement, at depths of around 500 feet within ?Cretaceous shaly sediments. However, a north-south orientated line of later drilling did not reveal any major zones of radioactivity comparable with those encountered initially by the holes in the Four Mile Creek area, which form an extension of the uranium occurrence found previously in SML 186.
