A small area located 15 km north-east of Beltana was explored for possible economic stratabound or epigenetic/hydrothermal base metal deposits associated with Adelaidean and Cambrian calcareous/dolomitic strata and Willouran diapiric structures. Work performed included geological mapping at 1:18,000 scale in the vicinity of the Mount Bayley mine, grab sampling of suspected gossans, regional stream sediment sampling (145 samples) and follow-up soil and rock chip sampling. A number of small occurrences of disseminated mineralisation were found, but nothing which was considered to warrant serious consideration.
