In gold and base metal exploration carried out in an area located approximately 50 km south-east of Oodnadatta, no significant gold or other trace metal values were obtained from surface geochemical sampling of the basal conglomerate unit of the Algebuckina Sandstone, and of nearby bedrock quartz reefs and an iron formation. 1:20,000 scale geological mapping of the Algebuckina Inlier and of the onlapping Mesozoic sediments, and limited petrological examination of samples of the Jurassic conglomerate, did not disclose any economic minerals.
