Exploration of an area located approximately 30 km south-east of Copley was aimed at finding possible Irish-type stratiform lead-zinc(-silver) sulphide mineralisation in localised sub-basin environments associated with growth faulting and brecciation. Analysis of 536 rock chip samples and 1:5000 scale geological mapping of facies variations in Early Cambrian strata (Pound Quartzite, Parachilna Formation and Wilkawillina Limestone) gave little evidence of such mineralisation. Drilling of 9 percussion holes (total 357.5 m) at the Mooney prospect was not successful as a test of the unweathered portion of the anomalous Mooney ironstone lying near the base of the Parachilna Formation, due to drilling difficulties encountered in passing through weathered kaolinitic rock. Stream sediment sampling for willemite in the Puttapa Springs area yielded no significant geochemical values.
