In-situ leaching of a uranium orebody can only be successful if the deposit meets a number of essential criteria. These criteria are: 1. The ore occurs in a generally porous and permeable horizontal bed underlain and overlain by impermeable strata; 2. The ore occurs below the static water table; 3. The hydrology of the host formation, in particular the direction and velocity of groundwater flow, is fully understood; 4. Mineralogy of the ore must be suitable for in-situ leaching. It is concluded from the data to hand that the Honeymoon deposit substantially meets these requirements. Additional information is required from the East Kalkaroo and Gould's Dam deposits, although on present indications, both appear suitable for mining by this technique. However, in their case more field and laboratory work is required before all the various parameters are known, and before the full potential for in-situ leaching at these deposits can be assessed.
