Following the conduct of an aerial radioactivity survey covering an area north-east of Olary, ground checking of 9 anomalies gave only average radiation readings. Radioactivity logging of water bores located in places where the sedimentary cover thickened gave anomalous readings from one bore, over a zone from 140-160 feet deep. An orientation geobotanical survey carried out along the Oonatra and Mingary Creeks showed that the uranium content of gum leaves did not suitably reflect the measured high uranium content of groundwater tested in Oonatra Creek. No significant mineralisation was intersected by 26 rotary/percussion holes (total 3945 feet) drilled into Cainozoic sediments in areas of anomalous groundwater radioactivity. However, drillhole K2 intersected 175 feet of prospective palaeochannel sands and gravels, and another 5 holes totalling 240 feet which were put down at airborne radiometric anomaly KN/6 resulted in drillhole K22a intersecting low grade uranium mineralisation (O.4 lbs / ton U3O8) over the depth interval 25-35 feet.
