The MIWATCH group previously prepared a desktop review of the mine waste features at various locations in South Australia, examining the potential for critical metals for the Department for Energy and Mining. The desktop study highlighted potential opportunities of mine waste features and prospectivity for critical metals at the Alma and Victoria and Paratoo mines. In this study, tailings and waste rock at the Alma and Victoria mine and waste rock at the Paratoo mine were sampled and the geochemical and mineralogical characteristics of the samples were assessed to determine the critical metal/mineral potential.
