Detailed base and precious metals exploration undertaken by Utah Development Company in the area of the Worumba Anticline has targeted possible stratiform Zambian Copperbelt - type deposits. Exploratory work has included 72 geochemical vertical profile traverses (75 line km) sampled at 100 m spacing, geological mapping of selected prospective localities (104 square km at 1:10,000 scale), extensive petrological studies of samples taken from mineralised stratigraphic units and diapiric breccias, and the drilling of 6 diamond cored holes (totalling 1356 m) and 8 percussion holes (totalling 670 m) to investigate sediments of the Callanna Group, the basal Burra Group and the Umberatana Group, plus later intrusive dolerite (and extrusive basalt) bodies commonly associated with minor mineralisation at sediment - dolerite contacts. Specific drill targets included cupriferous carbonates in the Niggly Gap Beds, anomalous contacts between Niggly Gap Beds sediments and intrusive dolerites, the Tindelpina Shale - Wilyerpa Formation contact, sulphide - carbonate veining in the Tapley Hill Formation, and the Kirwan Siltstone - Waraco Limestone contact zone. Drillhole PD004 at Prospect 19 near the historic Wyacca mine intersected 0.18% Cu from the depth interval 85-88 m, within a conformable carbonate ankeritic / sideritic assemblage containing disseminated pyrite and chalcopyrite at the Tindelpina Shale - Wilyerpa Formation contact. Weak gold anomalism was also found associated with quartz - carbonate veins in the Skillogalee Dolomite. As part of a kimberlite and diamond search begun after licence takeover by BHP Minerals, heavy mineral analysis of 29 stream samples taken from right across the licence area yielded no kimberlitic indicators.
