As part of a regional diamond and kimberlite exploration programme, 50 drainage and loam samples were collected for heavy mineral analysis from within the two areas being relinquished, which lie respectively 50 km NW and 40 km NE of Kingoonya. No diamonds or kimberlitic indicator minerals were recovered. Inspection of Landsat remote sensing images failed to recognize any anomalous surface geomorphic expressions suggestive of kimberlite emplacement.
