Exploration for Neoproterozoic stratabound gold in part of the northern Nackara Arc included performing stream sediment geochemical sampling (999 samples) and reconnaissance soil (64 samples) and rock chip (60 samples) sampling near Gum Dam, over an area of auriferous quartz veins within an arenaceous facies of the Tarcowie Siltstone Member of the Umberatana Group. Locally, pervasive thin auriferous quartz veins not exceeding 40 mm in width are present throughout the unit. They are generally strike - concordant, but with dips aligned opposite to the bedding, perhaps therefore representing infillings to fold limb tension fractures within the more competent arenaceous facies on the flank of a major anticline. Stream sediments anomalous in bismuth were found to be associated with the Ulupa Siltstone, but the cause of this is unknown.
